Pouco antes das 11h da manhã deste domingo, dia 27 de outubro, o Corpo de Bombeiros Militar de Itapoá se deslocou para prestar auxílio ao serviço de guarda-vidas nas imediações da Terceira Pedra.

Duas pessoas haviam entrado na água do mar a uma distância de aproximadamente 270 metros do posto guarda-vidas mais próximo. A mulher foi retirada da água em estado estável, afogamento de grau 1, o mais leve, em uma escala que vai até o nível 6. Ela foi liberada no local. Já a segunda vítima, um homem de 48 anos de idade, natural de Palmeiras (PR) foi retirado com ausência de sinais de vitais, sendo imediatamente iniciadas as manobras de reanimação cardiopulmonar que duraram cerca de 30 minutos, até a chegada do Helicóptero Águia da Polícia Militar de Santa Catarina. Ele foi conduzido ao PA (Pronto Atendimento) 24 Horas de Itapoá, onde os procedimentos de reanimação tiveram continuidade por aproximadamente mais 25 minutos, sendo confirmado o óbito.

Estiveram envolvidos no resgate das vítimas na água, um guarda-vidas civil e dois surfistas. Na continuidade, deram apoio as viaturas ASU (Auto Socorro de Urgência), ABTR (Auto Bomba Tanque de Resgate), quadriciclo e aeronave.
